Jack my Stye

So I thought I'd talk about my review style and really the whole tone of this here blog.  I've read, somewhere, that critics are just people who can't do the thing they're criticizing.  I think, for the most part, that's absolutely true.  People choose criticism because they want to be "in" the industry that they're criticizing but for whatever reason are not.  So they stay "in" by becoming critics.  If you choose to believe this to be true, and I do, I can see why it would breed contempt among critics.  They want to do the things they are criticizing and they can't and they are frustrated by this.  So it comes out as vitriol against this thing they supposedly love.  I don't want to be in the comic's industry.  Or in the superhero industry (comics, games, movies, TV shows, whatever).  I already belong to an industry that I both love and hate, I don't need another.  I have ideas, I know what I want to see, I have thoughts and opinions and I want to share those.  But something else to keep in mind is that negativity thrives on the internet.  I come to the internet for it, you come to the internet for it.

What I'm trying to say, and this is the longest way possible to this point, is I am not a negative reviewer.  That's not to say I don't have negative things to say about certain things.  But mostly I try to be positive because I enjoy the superhero industry.  I get excited by things in that industry, even if they are crap.  So if you want someone who's going to yell and hate everything then I suggest you go elsewhere.  There are a lot of people out there who will scratch that itch for you.  I'm mostly about honesty here and that usually means something positive.  That's not to say I don't hate things or that I won't post tirades about the things I hate, I have and will continue to do that.  But mostly you're going to get something positive from me and because I genuinely enjoy the superhero industry it's going to result in a lot of middle of the road ratings and balanced criticism.  But it will always be my honest opinion and I will always be honest.  I make no money here, I have no lords to please and I have no interests I have to pursue or agenda's that need to be furthered.  I just want to have fun and share things with like minded people.  I want to talk about the things I write about here and learn something from others who disagree with me.  That's what this blog is about, opinions about the superhero industry from someone who has nothing to gain or lose.  So if you want vitriol, it exists here, just look at the Less than Zero tag or even stuff rated a 1 or 2 out of 5, some of that stuff I really hated.  My cosplay stuff is something I feel passionately about so I get passionate in my writings (mostly in the 'asplosions) because I love cosplay but, I'm sorry, a lot of you cosplayer's are dicks.  The cool ones more than make up for it but, seriously, a lot of you are dicks.  But mostly this is pretty positive place and I encourage comments and discourse and I will try to respond to every comment I get (especially at the rate I get them now).

The one thing you can expect is honesty.  Good or bad, complimentary, indifferent or offensive it's how I feel and it doesn't mean I'm right and you're wrong, or that anyone is right and wrong, it's just how I feel.  So enjoy you're stay in my little corner of the internet.
